Articulation
What we can help with
At Clinique Dynamique ND, our speech‐language pathologists help children master the movements and sounds of speech so they’re understood by friends, teachers, and family.
Signs to watch out for
Omitting or distorting specific sounds (e.g., “wabbit” for “rabbit,” “tink” for “think”)
Substituting one sound for another (e.g., “tar” for “car”)
Difficulty with consonant clusters (“sp,” “tr,” “bl”)
Intelligibility declines as complexity increases (hard to understand longer words)
What Therapy Involves
Articulatory Placement: Using models, mirrors, and tactile cues to teach correct tongue and lip positions.
Phonological Awareness: Games and activities that help children hear and manipulate sound patterns (rhyming, segmenting).
Drill & Play: Fun, motivator-based practice—turning repetition into games with stickers, tokens, or digital apps.
Home Carry-Over: Simple daily exercises (e.g., “find five things that start with /s/”) and parent coaching to reinforce gains.
