Occupational Therapy

Overview of Our Approach

Our occupational therapy services are designed to help children build the skills they need to thrive in their daily lives. We focus on developing fine and gross motor skills, improving sensory processing, and strengthening a child’s ability to manage everyday activities such as dressing, feeding, and self-care.

In addition, we provide strategies and educational support to address challenges that may affect participation and success in school. Each therapy plan is personalized to meet the unique needs of your child, with the ultimate goal of fostering independence, confidence, and overall well-being.

Fine motor skills

Fine motor skills are essential for a child’s independence and success in everyday tasks such as holding a pencil, using scissors, fastening buttons, and feeding themselves. These skills involve the precise coordination of the small muscles in the hands and fingers. Through targeted, play-based activities like drawing, bead threading, cutting, and building, our occupational therapists help children strengthen hand strength, dexterity, and coordination. By developing fine motor skills, we support children in gaining confidence and achieving greater independence at home, in school, and in their daily routines.

Gross motor skills

Gross motor skills involve larger muscle groups and are vital for activities like running, climbing, and playing sports. Therapists focus on activities such as balancing exercises, jumping, and organized play to improve coordination and control. By addressing both fine and gross motor skills, occupational therapy aims to support children in achieving optimal physical and functional abilities, fostering their overall well-being and independence.

Sensory
Processing

Occupational therapists play a crucial role in addressing sensory processing challenges in children. Sensory processing refers to how the nervous system receives, interprets, and responds to sensory information from the environment. For kids facing difficulties in this area, occupational therapists use targeted interventions to help regulate sensory input. This can involve activities designed to enhance sensory integration, such as sensory diets, where specific sensory experiences are introduced to support better self-regulation. Therapists may also employ activities that focus on tactile, auditory, visual, and proprioceptive senses to help children adapt to and manage sensory input appropriately.

By tailoring interventions to each child's unique sensory needs, occupational therapists contribute to improved self-esteem, emotional regulation, and overall participation in daily activities.

Introduce Occupational Therapy in Your Classroom

Many children benefit from extra support with fine motor skills, sensory regulation, and classroom routines—and we’re here to help. Our occupational therapists can work directly within your daycare or school to support multiple children who may be struggling with developmentally appropriate tasks like using scissors, holding a pencil, or staying focused.

We collaborate closely with educators and can provide professional documentation and screening forms when needed. If you’re a school or daycare director looking to bring meaningful, hands-on support into your classrooms, contact us to learn how we can work together.
